I highly recommend that you do some privates to learn how to manage your stenosis and scoliosis. With Stenosis, extension exercises are not recommended. You need to learn how to modify movement with your back conditions.

The PilatesDancing is on FRIDAYS at 10:30 AM at Movements Afoot.

A combination of scoliosis, stenosis and too much yoga have made it harder and harder for me to stay in shape. I'm looking for some intensive training to re-educate my body so it moves more
fluidly. Do you think Pilates Dancing would help? Do you have classes? Where & when?

Thanks,

What about ankles? My friend has old ankle injuries and has had little luck fixing them via surgery. I know alignment and muscle use can make a huge difference. Would it help him? Where should he start? Do you know experts in this field in Washington, DC that he could talk/work with?

Thank you,
Amanda

Hi Lesley,
Can you please remind me of what BBU courses I need to take in order to be certified through them? Since I was certified through Physical Mind Institute a couple of months ago, I would like to move along with my knowledge base.
Hope you are well.

Thank you,
Liz Hamilton

This is a very nice website. Stretching the psoas is important as well as creating a better foundation. I as a dancer have very tight psoas, find relief also when I do bridging exercises as well as improving my standing foundation.

Accentuated lordosis? The key is the psoas. Because of its attachment the psoas will create extension in the lumbar spine. Over time, the lumbar paravertebral muscles shorten. Most therapists waste their time attempting to stretch the paraspinals when they should be focusing most of their effort on the psoas, iliacus, and rectus femoris. I have a video on how to effectively stretch the psoas at http://www.eraseyourbackpain.com.

Thanks Leslie. I love this post!
Being a new teacher...it is very helpful to have guidelines. I know as I get more experience, things like this will become more ingrained in me, but in the meantime tools like this help guide me along.
